ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will vote against the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) in parliament if presented, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif said on Monday.
Addressing a press conference after chairing PML-N’s parliamentary party meeting. Nawaz said, “Abstinence from voting by any party would be equivalent to supporting the NRO.” He said the nation should be told the names of the beneficiaries of the NRO. “Their names and cases should be brought to light,” he said. “We will not support any undemocratic move to topple the government,” Nawaz said. He said the PML-N had contacted other parties over the NRO. “Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is approaching parties in the National Assembly while Ishaq Dar is lobbying in the Senate,” he said.
“The media calls us friendly opposition,” he said, adding, “I categorically state that the PML-N will vote against the NRO in parliament and we will also mobilise the public against this black law.” Nawaz said passing the NRO would stigmatise the democratic system and parliament.
